Business and Workforce Development

The goal of the Eau Claire Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee is to study workforce issues affecting businesses, implement programs to address the issues, and partner businesses and education.

Some of the programs and activities the committee is involved with include:

The Chippewa Valley Wage Survey –   The Eau Claire Chamber partners with the Menomonie and Chippewa Falls Chambers, Chippewa Valley Society for Human Resource Management (CVSHRM), and Wipfli to bring you the wage survey.  The survey includes over 150 job descriptions, touching on five specialty sections including: Construction, Financial, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Not for Profit.

If your business is a member of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce or the Greater Menomonie Chamber of Commerce and you would like to participate, you can view Wage Survey Instructions and the Job Description Definitions. A Survey Information form,  Excel spreadsheets and PDF copies are listed below:

Promote the Chippewa Valley – The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce partners with the Eau Claire Economic Development Corporation and the Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to promote the Eau Claire area as a great place to work, live and visit.

The Age of Opportunity Job Fair - This program was created to highlight mature workers in the Chippewa Valley.  We found that many seniors are interested in maintaining a link to the working world through part time employment or volunteer service.

To form a strong partnership between the business and education communities we are involved in:

Educator Tours – Educators take time to tour our area businesses to see what career skills businesses are seeking in their employees and type of education required for employment.  The goal is for educators to integrate these ideas into their curriculums and classrooms.

School Visits – Area business leaders are invited to come on a ‘tour’ of an Eau Claire school to show first hand how schools are preparing the future workforce (professional and life skills) and help understand the issues/challenges facing educators.

Internship Promotion The Chamber promotes the benefits in hiring Interns! TODAY there are students in our classrooms preparing to enter the business world. TOMORROW they will be the next generation of professionals—the employees, managers, and supervisors in your company. Wise managers realize the benefits of helping prepare these students for their future. Businesses take advantage of interns to gain access to high-quality candidates, evaluate prospective employees, and gain from current knowledge. The Chamber has partnered with area educational institutions to create a website promoting hiring interns and walking businesses through the process of hiring and utilizing interns. Check out the Chippewa Valley Internship Central website at: www.cvinterns.org.
