Dr. Cheryl Lapp, professor of nursing at UW-Eau Claire, recently received the 2015 Suzanne Van Ort Award for Creativity and Scholarships from the College of Nursing and Health Services. Lapp received the award for her development of a University Honors Program course titled Empathy Enhancement for the Helping Professions, which uses an innovative teaching strategy focusing on theater applications.
Registered nurse Christine Boe has been named inpatient director of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Boe will be responsible for operations of the Family Birth Center. Boe has worked as nursing supervisor in Surgical Prep & Recovery at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Previously, she worked at Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center in OB-GYN, gastroenterology, hepatology and central pharmacy. Boe completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Winona State University in Minnesota. She is working toward her master’s degree in nursing management and organizational leadership at American Sentinel University in Aurora, Colorado.
