Whether you live in the Eau Claire, Wisconsin year round or are just visiting for the day, you will be sure to find some type of entertainment or recreational activity.
Outdoor activities are abundant throughout the year. Eau Claire offers golfers a wide selection of eight golf courses for all skill levels, from a nine-hole executive course to 18-hole private country club. Two flying-disc golf courses can also be found in the area. The Fairfax Park Municipal Pool is a fun place outdoors for all ages with a water slide and diving boards, along with an Olympic-size pool.
All year round biking, hiking, jogging, and inline skating can be enjoyed on the Chippewa River Recreation Trail. In the city limits there is 3.2 miles of trail that connects with 30 miles of the Chippewa River Trail that follows the picturesque Chippewa River.
For winter sport enthusiasts there are groomed cross-county skiing trails right in the city limits with an assortment of county trails available as well. Snowmobiles can travel over 181 miles on the Eau Claire County Trail.
If you prefer indoor activities, there are several sports centers and fitness centers offering indoor soccer, tennis and inline skating. Throughout the year, visitors and residents have fun at one of the area bowling lanes.
Eau Claire also has abundant entertainment venues. The Eau Claire Regional Arts Center brings in national touring groups as well as providing home stage to local groups such as Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and Eau Claire Children’s Theatre. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire also offers an assortment of performances on campus. Fanny Hill Dinner Theatre offers a beautiful setting for enjoying dinner and watching comedies and musicals. During the summer, the thousands of people visit Eau Claire for both country and rock music festivals.
Other things to occupy your time include watching the local sports team, Northwoods League Eau Claire Express, at a baseball game in the newly renovated Carson Park or taking a tour of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company in Chippewa Falls. And don’t forget to visit one of our fine museums in the area, which will be fun for the entire family.
