Selection Criteria
Applicants for Youth Leadership Eau Claire (YLEC) must be current sophomores who will be entering their junior year of high school the following September. Potential participants are asked to complete an application as well as provide both a teacher and community reference. In addition, in order to be considered for the program, all students must have
their principal’s approval and be in good standing in their respected high school. Applications are due to the Eau Claire Chamber office by the first Friday in April or to one of the following school representatives:
Jay Mielke – Altoona High School
Laura Volbrecht – Fall Creek High School
Denise Stokes – Memorial High School (Student Services)
Deanne Fuller – North High School (Student Services)
Eric Nelson – Regis High School
The YLEC Selection Committee will select up to 24 diverse participants for the program based on the application and references. The Selection Committee will be unaware of the identity of all candidates.
Participants for the class will be notified of acceptance in early May. An orientation session will be held in May for all participants and their parents or guardians. No tuition is due before acceptance.

Tuition
Students accepted into the program will be charged $100 tuition. All other program costs will be covered through sponsorships. Scholarships are available for those students needing financial assistance. Please print an scholarship application form.
