The law firm of Weld, Riley, Prenn and Ricci, S.C. is pleased to announce that Attorney MaiVue K. Xiong has been elected shareholder of the firm. Xiong, a member of the Business section, joined the firm in 2010. She advises clients in business transactions, including business formations and sales, banking and financing services, real estate, landlord/tenant and intellectual property law. Prior to joining Weld, Riley, Xiong worked for The Honorable Joan H. Lefkow, District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. She also worked for the Wisconsin Department of Justice and volunteered for the Legal Information Center in Madison. For her volunteer work, she received the Wisconsin Asian Bar Association Community Award. Xiong received her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Dove Healthcare announced it has changed the name of their skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The three Eau Claire and two Chippewa Falls facilities are under common, private ownership and have always been, collectively, Dove Healthcare. This change is meant to better reflect that affiliation and unite all locations in preparation for company growth this fall. Effective August 3, facility names in Eau Claire were changed to Dove Healthcare - South Eau Claire; Dove Healthcare - West Eau Claire; and Dove Healthcare - Orchard Hills Assisted Living. In Chippewa Falls, facility names changed to Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center and Dove Healthcare - Rutledge Home.
Pharmastar, LLC has named Luke Johnson as clinical pharmacy manager. Johnson brings years of experience from pharmacies in the Chippewa Valley. He earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from University of Wisconsin–Madison. Johnson’s core responsibilities at Pharmastar include ensuring that appropriate clinical programs are designed, implemented, maintained and updated. He will act as a manager and coordinator of the clinical relationship with Pharmastar clients.
Dean Mathwig has joined Insty-Prints of Western Wisconsin as marketing coordinator and account manager. Mathwig will plan and oversee efforts to connect with current and potential clients, including local and regional businesses, institutions and non-profit organizations, in order to help them increase their brand awareness and offer solutions to grow their business. A marketing and communications professional for nearly 30 years, Mathwig has served with a number of local organizations, including Mayo Health System, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Community Health Partnership and Asher Lasting Exteriors.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin announced that Jamie Nelson has joined the organization as community development manager. This newly created role will serve as the lead strategist for agency-wide fundraising-event management and volunteer recruitment. Nelson brings with her a wealth of experience making her aptly suited for this new role. She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and theatre from the UW-Superior. For the past five years, Nelson has had direct responsibility in volunteer recruitment, event management and fundraising to ensure the continued success of Relay for Life. In her position at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Nelson will be providing direct support to all regions while playing strategic point on all Chippewa Valley and Dunn region fundraising events.
Lang Jacobson, M.D., has joined the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Jacobson received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. Before completing his residency and joining Mayo Clinic Health System, Jacobson was stationed in Japan as a general medical officer in the United States Navy and was deployed to Afghanistan where he served as senior medical officer. He is a member of the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is board-eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Scott Spritzer, D.O., has joined the Neurology Department at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. He will provide care for patients with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. Spritzer received his medical degree from the Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. He completed a neurology residency program at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Scottsdale, Arizona. Spritzer also completed an epilepsy fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and electroencephalography at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Scottsdale. He is certified in neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the American Medical Association.
Physician assistant Erica Vogel recently joined Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Vogel earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies, both at UW-Madison. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She has special interests in wellness and women’s health.
HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital is among a select group of hospitals and transplant centers nationwide recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for reaching the Gold Level of achievement by conducting activities that promoted enrollment in state organ donor registries. This marks the second year the hospital has achieved Gold Level. Sacred Heart Hospital is part of the national Workplace Partnership for Life (WPFL) Hospital Campaign, sponsored by HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Of the 1,658 hospitals and transplant centers enrolled in the campaign, 355 were awarded the Gold Level of achievement during this phase of the campaign.
Culver’s restaurants nationwide recently said thank you to their local FFA Chapter or agriculture organization through Culver’s Thank You Farmers - Scoops of Thanks fundraiser. Through the Scoops of Thanks fundraiser, guests who donated $1.00 to their local FFA or agriculture organization received a scoop of custard. Over $40,000 was raised to help create awareness and generate support of local FFA and agriculture organizations.
