Security Financial Bank Completes Merger with Jackson County Bank
EAU CLAIRE – Security Financial Bank (SFB) announced today that it has completed its merger with Jackson County Bank. The combined entity, which will operate as Security Financial Bank, now has about $850 million in assets and 150 employees.
Security Financial Services Corporation (SFSC), the parent company of SFB, purchased Jackson County Bank in November 2020. The two financial institutions were operated independently until today’s merger.
“We are pleased to announce the completion of our merger with Jackson County Bank,” said Paul Rudersdorf, SFB president and CEO. “We welcome our new employees and clients to Security Financial Bank and look forward to being part of the local community.”
Established in 1934 in Durand, Wisconsin, Security Financial Bank is a locally owned financial institution focused on business and agriculture now with offices in Alma Center, Black River Falls, Bloomer, Durand, Eau Claire, Ladysmith and River Falls.

THE RCU FOUNDATION GIVES $250,000 TO RIVERWOOD NATURE CENTER
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The RCU Foundation recently made a $250,000 gift to Riverwood Nature Center in Star Prairie, WI. The nature center is undergoing a significant renovation to transition the former chicken hatchery into a 30+ acre nature preserve along the Apple River.
The RCU Visitor and Interpretive center will be a point of welcome for guests and house exhibits and spaces for community events and education. “We are thrilled to add the RCU Foundation to our growing circle of partners on this project,” said Kim Anderson, Executive Director, Riverwood Nature Center.
The Center has enjoyed strong local support from area conservation organizations, community service groups, and businesses. “It was clear that Riverwood Nature Center fills a vital community need and project leaders have created a circle of supporters and community partners to ensure success,” observed John Sackett, President, RCU Foundation.
Riverwood Nature Center currently hosts a local farmer’s market and visitors can enjoy the hiking trails, picnic areas, and more than 3,000 feet of frontage along the Apple River. Building remodeling and improvements will take place through spring 2022. More than 5,000 visitors are anticipated each year.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The RCU Foundation made a $150,000 gift to Westfields Hospital Foundation in New Richmond, WI. The hospital recently completed a kitchen and café remodel to improve healthy food options for patients, visitors, and staff.
The Rivers Café sponsored by RCU Foundation is a redesigned café space and expanded kitchen. The updated facilities are both beautiful and functional. “Our nutrition services staff can now prepare and cook fresh food for the hospital using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible,” noted JoAnn Wrich, Director, Westfields Hospital Foundation. “We are grateful for the upgraded facilities and excited to continue advancing health through nutrition.”
Westfields Hospital and Clinic has served the New Richmond, WI, community for more than 70 years. “Health care is a vital need in our communities, especially now, and the Foundation is proud to support Westfields Hospital,” said John Sackett, President, RCU Foundation. “The updated kitchen and café will bring benefits to patients, staff, and visitors for many years to come.”
Future kitchen and café offerings will include take-n-bake meals for staff to assist with work-life balance and nutrition classes for patients and community members.

UW-Eau Claire to require masks indoors starting Aug. 30
Chancellor James Schmidt said the mask requirement will be in place in all campus buildings in Eau Claire, Rice Lake and Marshfield. All students and employees who have not provided proof of vaccination will be required to test weekly on campus. Full story.
