HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Encourages Middle Schoolers to Attend Babysitting Training
CHIPPEWA FALLS – If you have a child excited to begin babysitting, taking a babysitting class is a must.
The Volunteer Partners of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital is offering two classes in March to prepare those ages 11 and older for babysitting. An instructor will prepare participants to be effective caregivers by covering feeding, diapering and basic first aid. Attendees will also learn how to provide safe activities and chose age-appropriate games.
Babysitting skills will be learned through discussion, video presentation and hands-on learning stations.
The cost is $10 per person, which includes lunch and class materials. Registration is required.

HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital offers prenatal and breastfeeding classes in April
EAU CLAIRE – If you’re a soon-to-be parent, you likely have a lot of questions about what to expect during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and more. HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital’s Women and Infants Center is offering free prenatal education classes for first-time parents and those who would like a refresher Mondays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Monsignor Klimek Auditorium (lower level) at the hospital, 900 West Clairemont Ave.
The hospital is also offering a prenatal class Saturday, April 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Monsignor Klimek Auditorium (lower level) at the hospital. This is a one-day class that covers the same information as the several-week series.
In addition, the hospital is offering a breastfeeding education class Tuesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. in Bishop Treacy (lower level) at the hospital.

Michael Perry on “Spectrum West” March 5, 2020
Michael Perry will be a guest on “Spectrum West,” which airs at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020 on The Ideas Network stations 88.3 WHWC-FM/ Menomonie-Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW-FM/ River Falls. The program will also include interviews with the director of The Master Singers, a book editor and a local guitarist with a new album.
Host Al Ross will share a visit at the Fall Creek home of writer Michael Perry prior to his March 13 appearance at the Worden Avenue Exchange in Ladysmith. They will talk about the event and get an idea of what he is working on and how he goes about his craft.
Gary Schwartzhoff, director of The Master Singers, joins Ross to talk about the group’s annual spring/Easter concert. This year’s performance, entitled “Choral Images: Lux: The Dawn from on High” will take place three times. Two concerts will occur in Eau Claire, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ and at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 21 at the Pablo Center at the Confluence. New Stout Chancellor on “The West Side” March 9

Host Dean Kallenbach will welcome the new chancellor, who began her duties at UW-Stout this month. They will discuss her aspirations for the school, which labels itself as Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University.
Also joining the program will be Patrick Guilfoile, who served as interim chancellor during the search for the new chancellor to replace Bob Meyer, who retired from the post in August. Guilfoile now serves as a special assistant to the chancellor. Bryan Barts, director of career services at UW-Stout will also be a guest.
