Q1. What are your background and qualifications for this position, and why are you a candidate? Steve Chilson: I have been on the Eau Claire county board for 10 years and currently serve on the Finance and budget committee and Highway committee. I was raised in Eau Claire and operate automotive dealerships with my family Q2. What is the County Board’s role in promoting economic development, business maintenance and commercial growth in the county? Steve Chilson: We need to be a community that welcomes business and industry to help create jobs and opportunity for our citizens. Q3. What should the County Board do to address the current budget issues and program demands in the Human Services area? Steve Chilson: This department has been over budget significantly the past 3 years. The board needs to hold this department to be financially responsible because this deficit is creating massive budgetary problems for the county, and unless this is fixed, will put the county on a path to bankruptcy Q4. What are the two biggest issues you expect Eau Claire County to face during your term, and how do you think the County Board should address them? Steve Chilson: The biggest issue facing Eau Claire county is the deficits in the Human service department. This is the largest problem we have and needs to be fixed. Comments are closed.
