Did you know that running for office is not the only way to get involved in local decisions? An important, but lesser-known opportunity for individuals to help ensure the effectiveness of government is to serve on one of the various boards and commissions on city and county government. City of Eau Claire There are currently openings on several City of Eau Claire Boards, Commissions and Committees, and the City is looking for individuals that are interested in applying for those positions. The Advisory Committee on Appointments, which makes recommendations to the City Council, meets on March 20 to consider applications. Current vacancies expected to be taken up by the committee include Board of Heating Examiners, Board of Review, Housing Advisory Board, Housing Authority, Housing Opportunities Commission, Police and Fire Commission, Plan Commission, Seven Mile Creek Standing Committee, Sustainability Advisory Committee, Utility Appeals Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals. Eau Claire County Eau Claire County also has a number of Boards, Commissions, and Councils that utilize county citizens, and also has an online application process.
