The Eau Claire Area Chamber has many initiatives to help employers retain, recruit and develop employees. Many of these programs, committees, and events have been around for years; At the 2019 Annual meeting our CEO/President David Minor announced the intention of focusing on Workforce Challenges and Solutions in the Chippewa Valley. This publication and the initiatives highlighted at the end of the edition are the beginning.
Faanes, Moore To lead local economic recovery task force
Work gets underway to plan for reopening the area economy
Two recently-retired and well-respected local leaders, Mark Faanes and Gregg Moore, have agreed to be co-chairs of the newly-created local COVID-19 Economic Recovery Task Force. Faanes is retired Partner-in-charge of Wipfli’s Northern Wisconsin Region and a former Chamber Board Chair, and Moore is the former long-time Chair of the Eau Claire County Board.
The purpose of the Task Force is to guide the reopening of the local economy with a strategic, evidence-based approach, within federal and state guidelines. It has now begun its work to build and implement a plan to develop local sector-specific business recovery strategies, help businesses navigate the crisis financially, address employment issues, and promote business activity throughout the community.

Wisconsin Needs to Get Back to Business!
WMC's Back to Business plan, if implemented by the Governor, would have started opening businesses as of yesterday, May 4. Businesses are continuing to struggle and Wisconsin remains closed due to the extension of the Safer at Home order. It is time we let our lawmakers know that we need to get Back to Business!
The Back to Business plan is designed to strategically open Wisconsin businesses based on a number of risk factors and offers employers a clear vision for when and how they can begin to operate, once again. It was developed with input from a diverse group of stakeholders, including those in business, government and the medical community.
Donna from Hayward, owner of Lori's Card and Gifts, explains the importance of reopening Wisconsin and the impact the order is having on her small business.
Hear Donna's story below:
Please join us in supporting the Back to Business plan by contacting your legislators and the governor today. In just a couple clicks, you can show your support for the plan.
