Approved signing a contract with the Chippewa Valley Boy Scouts for an Air Show Chalet on June 16-17. The Chamber will have 50 tickets each day to resell to members.
The Chamber has hired Savannah Sepic, UWEC, as the Legislative intern.
The Chamber received a donation from Geoff Goodland, Coffee Express. He sold his company but retained three large coffee makers that are used for Breakfast in the Valley. He donated these to the Chamber, $3000 value and will also help to brew the coffee.
Chamber Board members have been meeting with the five finalists for the Dean of the College of Business for UWEC. They will provide feedback to the selection committee.
One Million Cups program has begun. It is held every Wednesday morning at 9 am at the Local Lounge. This is for entrepreneurs and those interested. No reservations needed.
Received an update on the Midwest Rail Initiative. The group is currently focusing on the feasibility of developing a public private partnership to establish passenger rail service between Eau Claire and the Twin Cities on the Union Pacific tracks. The Coalition is especially interested in finding business people to participate in the Passenger Rail Organizing Council, which is examining alternatives for the financing, governance and operation of the future service.
Bob McCoy is hosting all of the 24 past Board chairs for a special retirement luncheon.
