unnamed (1)

Eau Claire, WI ⎯ The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the third annual Youth Apprenticeship Signing Day on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Chamber office (101 N. Farwell Suite 101, Eau Claire, WI, 54703) at 4:30 p.m. This celebration is to honor students from the Eau Claire Area Youth Apprenticeship Consortium who have committed to Youth Apprenticeship (YA) with area employers.

Additionally, May 5-11, 2024, is the First Annual National Youth Apprenticeship Week which is a nationwide celebration that highlights the benefits and value of Registered Apprenticeship program opportunities for youth ages 16-24.

The YA Signing Day encourages partnerships between high schools, students, and local employers. These partnerships allow for students to explore their chosen field with employers who can provide training, mentorship and skills in related jobs.

Local Eau Claire Area High Schools such as Eau Claire North, Eau Claire Memorial, McKinley High School, Fall Creek High School, and Regis High School have been invited to participate in the third annual YA Signing Day in recognition of the important step students are taking to start their career exploration in the Chippewa Valley.

Various Chippewa Valley employers will be present to celebrate YA and their new hires in the areas of: Finance, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Agriculture.

“Youth Apprenticeship (YA) is a highly successful talent acquisition strategy in which employers hire high school juniors or seniors for a one or two-year apprenticeship. During the apprenticeship, the student continues toward high school graduation and takes courses related to the profession as a way of enhancing what is being learned on the job.”
