When an employer is looking to grow their workforce or looking to replace members, the employer needs to know how to attract talent. Attracting talent to the workforce is a vital skill all employers should know how to do because attracting talent will help keep the workforce healthy and strong to carry out the company’s responsibilities.
There are many responsibilities the company leadership team should take on in order to keep attracting talent to the company. The leadership team should make sure their company mission, vision, and purpose are well known so potential employees know why the company does what it does. The company should offer resources to help potential employees do research to compare and contrast on their own. The leadership team should also make themselves available to potential employees by attending hiring events, attending community events, and spreading their influence around the community. These will help both the potential employee have access to tools needed to begin the hiring process, and help the company show themselves as an appealing place to work.
Attracting talent isn’t always the easiest job of the leadership team. Attracting new talent to the workforce for can be time consuming and tough in competitive industries, but if done well and done correctly, the workforce will stay strong and the company will be able to continue to succeed.
American philosopher and author of the essay Civil Disobedience Henry David Thoreau wrote,
“Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but him who does it for the love of it.”
